What is the surgery like? First, Dr. Seth Rush will surgically implant the titanium screw into your jawbone. Depending on the strength of your teeth and gums, a period of healing might be required so that the bone around the implant can tighten around the screw. This tightening is called osseointegration. We may attach a temporary crown to the post while you heal. We may also recommend eating soft, cold foods or warm soup to help the process along. After some time has passed, you can come back to the office and Dr. Seth Rush will install a custom-made crown, bridge or denture onto the post into your mouth.
